brought back to life
happened on this thread again accidentally after researching about 'euacharist' online.........
didn't realize i'd been asked a question previouslt...sorry mate i am not sure i have read that particular Campbell book, but have read his 'masks' volumes and his The Power of Myth though i am critiquing Campbell now--for example his 'monomyth' which commensuarete with the 'perennial philosophy' we all are supposed to HAVE to fit into.....! dont you'll see that the Christian 'eucharist' is a placebo-ritual for an ACTUAL much more ancient (and probably for early Christians, 'SECRET') ritual of communal ingestion of a sacrament. otherwise i chalolenge you to tell me the POINT of 'just-words'. what exactly do 'just-words' supposed to do for you?...if its more than words for you--if Christian, plesa explain....and for athiests who dont trust any deep experience such as that afforded by hallucinogenic inspiration, then what do you offer as an alternative? 'reason'? |
