Default Where's grandma?

A friend of mine told me this story.

As a child she wasn't treated well by her mother. Her grandmother, however, who lived with the family, was very kind to her. One day, when she was 6, her grandmother died. A few days later, not knowing that anything had happened to her grandmother, she asked her mother where her grandmother was. Her mother took her to a cemetery - to her grandmother's grave:

"She's in there," said her mother.

As they walked away from the grave her mother looked at her, smiled, and said:

"You'll be in there one day."

In her own grandmas grave? that's pretty odd. Do they have some sort of family tomb?

After my mothers funeral I was standing by the open grave looking down at the coffin and all the flowers that had slid off the lid. One of the guests, an older woman came up and patted me on the arm. “Don’t be sad,” she said, “your mother isn’t really dead.”
“She’s not?”
“No.”
“Then it’s a good thing you mentioned that before we filled the hole in. Give me a hand getting her out of that box.”

A small section of the family never talked to me again.

Um, is there any religious component to the story? I mean, whether one is religious or not, one can be buried in the family plot. Maybe that's what the mother meant.

That's funny...in a very morbid kind of way.

At the age of 6 she had no idea of what death was - which contrasts with:

I lived with some Irish travellers. A child of 5 came up to me carrying a puppy:

"Look," he said ... and wobbled its head ... "It's dead."

"How did it die?"

"I broke its kneck," was the reply.

The Abraham religions are death cults.
A lot of religions are death cults.
Religion was about death from the very start.
It is still about death.

"Where do I go when I die?"
"Where did Mom go?"

"Honey, mom is in a happy place now"

It is about fear of death.

Excellent, I'll have to remember that...

I can't stand it when somebody demeans a person's life by making their death meaningless.
