Richard Carrier sent me the following e-mail:

For all who are interested, author, historian, and philosopher Richard Carrier has finally surrendered to the 21st century and launched his own blog. http://www.richardcarrier.blogspot.com I shall be using this blog to announce my upcoming appearances and any new books or articles I publish, but also on occasion I will import some "best of the best" email or forum post of mine on sundry subjects, though mainly on ancient science and religion and modern science and natural philosophy. The inaugural post also contains links to every other website that is about me or that lists my available writings online, which I will keep updated if any URLs change. This coming week will see more post activity than will be usual (you'll see at least two entries there already and another is going up tomorrow), since I'm moving a backlog of stuff onto the blog, but you can expect me to add a blog entry at least once a month from then on. |

![]() Seriously though, I am quite excited about this. The content in the Infidels library can be difficult to navigate through for new visitors and he has brought some of his previous work to the fore to be more visible. I was discussing this with another ex-minister during the week that only left the ministry 6 months ago (I left the ministry 8 years ago). During this period you still have many theological issues to reconcile that haunt you late at night. Having this level of polemic available via a blog format does make it much more accessible.

The debate strikes me as pedestrian. Richard Carrier's mission I read as an attempt to resurrect 19th century science to clobber 4th century superstitions. Who, in their right mind, would want to argue with a religious fundamentalist ? For those who are less politically, and more philosophically inclined, may I offer an excellent introduction into modern thinking on the nature of consciousness, physics, and reality (or via: amazon.co.uk). Anybody knows where I can find the transcript of the debate between Price and Atwill - the infamous debate that left Price with a "bad taste" in his mouth?

They supposedly hate something so much, but are still paying enough attention to everything about it to be motivated to write long screeds against it on the internet. |
