Judges 1:19 is the infamous iron chariot verse. It says:

And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

My question is, to whom does the pronoun "he" refer to? I notice that all of the translations write it in lowercase to make it seem as if it refers to Judah. Are they correct?

Using the rule of the nearest antecedent leads to the conclusion that Judah is the "he." However, this is irrelevant because the passage says that Yahweh (the LORD) was "with Judah."
