It feels like it might be about a gnostic thread, but did not Umberto Eco do a similar thing with Foucault's Pendulum?
This preacher may be trying to copy Dan Brown. The starting point is probably much older, with Greek ethical thinking, Socrates and Plato admixed with Zarathustra, Buddhism and Judaism. Why does he start where he does? http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2005...ighereducation Quote:
