I don't think drstevej is anti-Catholic, I really don't. By anti-Catholic I mean, holds the attitude that Catholics aren't Christians and need to be subdued and fought wherever possible so that Calvinist doctrine triumphs.

I do believe that he is biased for Calvinism and like a politician with his party, does what he feels is ethically sound to promote it and evangelize and reform whatever possible to enable and further it. That's my opinion and I certainly encourage everyone to form their own based on what they observe and read from the person him or herself, rather than by rumor.

I have no opinion except that the joke was a very bad one.

And it makes me wonder about his position on CF.

As far as a human being, I'm sure he's great.

It would be nice if he would post something explaining the situation & apologizing to those he offended.

It is all too common to ignore the situation & hope it goes away on CF.

Don't ask, don't tell policy.

Stepping up & speaking up would show more sincerity than is displayed there as the norm.

Tas I think instead of just reading the OT you should read the NT and the words of Christ and how we are to render personal Judgement. It is never to judge someone's salvation or possible salavation but instead Tas, it is to distinguish for ourselves if we should be apart of them. IOWs are they good stewards and representatives of the Faith. If not then we should further our distance from them.

It is explicit that the job of correction should be done by not by the Laity but by the Shepards. It is also there that correction be given without judgement of the individual because we would need to be perfected ourselves in order to render such judgement and since none of are then we do not have the right.

I think being on upper staff requires, by their belief, a less confortational and direct approach to any issue. That's their belief and I don't criticize them for taking it.. but I hope they realize that it is the reason for much rumor and conflict. Unlike other staff, they have the power to discuss it... and it lies soley in their hands for whatever good or bad comes of it.
