I love Scientology because it is so stupid. And Christians will agree with you on that. You can suck a Christian into a conversation about how stupid Scientology is, and how gullible the devotees must be, then - WHAM - you say that it is no more or less ridiculous than Christianity. And then you point out the absurdities in both - side by side.
I also love the fact that L. Ron Hubbard is on the record as saying "If you really want to make money, you found your own religion." Then he went ahead and did it - and still roped in the suckers. I almost admire the guy. Scientology provides us atheists with a recent transparent example of how religions are founded and how they evolve. No need to go browsing over dusty parchments written in some obscure ancient language. Just look at Scientology for an example. Scientology has much to teach us, be grateful for it. RainbowSerpent |

Well, I think scientology is actually sad, especially when children are denied medication, and their mental afflictions are just dismissed. Honestly, some of us can't survive without medicine, and I am glad that I go a doctor unencumbered by scientology. It's a joke to see kids who have to suffer needlessly for a ridiculous ideology. Most Christians - at least as far as I know - let their kids have the prescriptions they deserve. So - I don't think that the two are even in the same league. FSM Bless, Queen Frik :devil3: |

Frik, I think you're confusing Scientology with the Church of Christ, Scientist. I'm not sure what the latter group call themselves, but they're the ones known for "emphasizing healing through spiritual means."

I'll have to look into this. Thought that that was what scientology was all about, but maybe they both emphasize natural healing. -The Frikstah :devil1: |

I believe Christian Scientists are those whose belief systems includes opposition to medical treatment, relying instead upon prayer. IIRC in many states laws have been passed to protect children from this particular belief system. |

Inch, scientologists do not allow their members to see psychiatrists or use prescription drugs for serious mental conditions such as depression. Just a few months ago, Scientologist Tom Cruise publically criticized Brooke Shields for taking prescription antidepressants to treat the depression that followed the birth of her baby.

L. Ann Zukor vs. Leslie A. Zukor The second one seems just a littel bit cleaner. The L. Ann might perplex people - like "what's her first name." Even more than Leslie A., which'll be like "what's her middle name?" Maybe, I should just stick with Queen Frik! :devil3: -Queen Frik |
