Default Broken Toys

The concept of hell and punishment for dead people, illustrates why the god of the bible is not a god that even the most devout Christian can trust not to toss them into a fiery hell for eternity. The reason is that this god acts on whim.

There is no purpose or reason for any kind of eternal torment or even eternal ostracism when an all-powerful being can simply fix whatever is wrong with a broken individual. Apparently it is better to torture or otherwise torment someone forever without hope of rehabilitation than to simply fix whatever is wrong with him. It is merely punishment for the sake of punishment without any other reason, it is whim.

A god that acts on whim in even a single case; acts on whim. No amount of baseless Christian claims that they know god’s nature can allow him to act without reason and cannot dismiss the fact that the being that is the supposed cause of eternal punishment or torment is acting on mere whim.

Since god acts on whim, then a Christian should trust that god may toss them all into hell, just for shits and grins. Heaven forbid that god actually just fixes dead humans he finds to be broken, instead he whimsically tortures without purpose at a whim.

It’s truly an evil thing that Christians imagine and love.

First, prove that God acts on whim......and more than your assertion is needed for proof.

Since we are talking about the Christian God then Scriptural evidence of God's whimsy will be acceptable.

There is no purpose for eternal punsihment, hence there can be no reason for it either. If there is no reason then there is only whim. There is no reason for god not to fix the broken toys hence no reason for anyone to miss heaven.

There was never any need for a universe in order to populate heaven with dead Christians. Those dead Christians could all hae been created exactly as they would be the moment they entered heaven. Hence the creation of evil was whim.

If I find even one then, will you concede? I'm going to have to look a bit later.

Your premise is flawed.

Just because you can't see a reason or purpose doesn't mean none exist.

Who says the purpose of the universe is to populate Heaven with dead Christians?

So you assert. Where's the proof?

Go ahead and have a look, you won't find one that you don't have to rip out of context in order to use.

I'll be happy to see what you come up with though.

When you don't find one, will you concede?

Only it's not God they trust because God doesn't exist. It's not trust either. It's faith, and they have faith in man out of duty, obligation, and allegiance. They don't have to trust imaginary gods. They only have to do what they're told and believe what they've been told to believe. It's simple. What they're told to believe is that God wouldn't do that. It's much easier to worship an imaginary god that wouldn't do that. So they just imagine that God isn't like that.

Is unseen reason or purpose more of an indication that none exists or that some exists?

Christians mostly. What other reason have you heard?

An all powerful being who cannot create something he has exact knowledge of cannot be called all-powerful. If he doesn't have exact knowledge then he isn't all-knowing. Which do you adhere to?

I can think of several off hand. I need to wait until get home to provide the verse though.

Sure. If I lose then I'll admit I couldn't find a verse that shows god to be whimsical. If you lose, you admit your god isn't worth worshipping.

Except that they are somewhat bound by the biblical authors description of what they are to imagine.

Without the biblical description they have nothing to compare their imaginings to. If the biblical god operates without reason...like to create an unnecessary universe to provide himself with something he cannot need or want, then he can be shown to be whimsical and Christians may be tossed into hell on a whim as well and such is a god whose worship is pointless.

Here's a hint, Steamer. You aren't going to win. He's already whipped out his "Out Of Context" sword, and is polishing it as we speak.

The creation of humans and the great flood were obviously whims as supplied by Genesis.

Jesus and hell were also clearly whims as supplied by the NT.

This has been my #1 anti-bible-god argument for some time now. He is omnimax, in need of nothing, yet goes forth with a plan to create a universe in which he KNOWS ~80 to 90% of his created beings will be punished harshly for eternity.

All they can do is use the Mysterious Ways Defense.
