Default What do Quakers do

Aside from going around being nice to people, just what do Quakers do? What is a Quaker church service like? What are the requirements of your religion like? You seem so different from other Christians!

They used to preach (to the indians) hogs, hoes, houses and heaven. I'm not sure what they are up to these days. Then they also didn't have preachers but sat in silence until one of them popped up to say a few words.

I think 200 years ago was the last time anyone found them to do anything interesting.

Yeah, 'cause the abolition of slavery isn't an interesting cause or anything. Or women's suffrage. Or civil rights. Or pacifism.

The quakers abolished slavery? When was that? Last week? They did let women speak in church. I wasn't aware that they participated in the million man march and I don't recall any Quakers in the 60s videos I've seen. Is there a Quaker gay parade? That'd be a hoot.

Sorry, but in my opinion quakers are a bunch of boring fucks and as for pacifism I think they're just hiding behind their religion and living in a country where others do their killing and dying for them.

Basically it means that they thought that the indians needed to be civilized before they could be taught Christianty. In practice they taught them farming techniques and how to build houses along with their Christian lessons. Jstor Link if you can get there.
