That's the real question isn't it?
If you agree with it it must be from Glod, if you don't it must be from Satan.

Simple really.

Why? Life is not in black and white, there is a full spectrum.

Such a difficult choice. Do you trust the persons who lived ate and slept with Jesus? Or do you trust the writings of someone who only saw Jesus in resurrected form for a small amount of time?

I think the people who put together the bible made grave errors in reasoning.

Bart Ehrman wrote a book titled, Lost Christianities (or via: amazon.co.uk), and it is a book that you can pick up used for cheap, or you can read an incomplete version for free on Google Books. It is all about the early Christian heresies (including from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd centuries), many that are surprisingly radical compared to the heresies of today (most of which at least roughly adhere to the Nicene creed). I can personally confirm that, yes, early Christians left out a lot of Christian gospels, letters and books from the canon, mainly because they were considered heretical from the proto-orthodox perspective, but also because they were seen as redundant, unlikely or irrelevant.

It isn't true. The canon more or less evolved into shape, and there was no one point at which people ever felt they had the authority to make decisions.

The best book on the canon is Metzger's "The canon of the NT", if you ignore the commentary and just look at the raw data presented.

All the best,

Roger Pearse
