Could someone give me the biblical references to limbo in the bible--or the passages that justify believing there is a limbo?

Nope. Doesn't work. He talks about limbo, but he ends up proving (to his satisfaction) references to purgatory. I'm rushing off to the Catholic Encyclopedia to get a near infallible pronouncement.

Could you give me an official source for this statement that Limbo is not an official Chruch doctrine? The Catholic Encyclopedia says very much otherwise, but I don't necessarily accept that as "gospel."

In other words I'm looking for some officially recognized Catholic source, such as a synod, council, papal bull--or what have you--which says Limbo is not part of standard Catholic belief.

It is not official dogma but it is not condemned either(which is what an official statement from The Church would do), it is not requiered for belief if one is to be a Catholic. It falls into the realm of Speculative Theology and not Dogmatic Theology. One can believe in Limbo in a manner that does not contradicts any other dogma but it is not requiered.

The Church has no opinion on the matter

The Church teaching Limbo is a popular myth, it is just speculation among theologians, no offical doctrine but not heresy to be condemned either.
