So this sort of thing doesn't happen until the patient is in really bad condition, almost dead pretty much? See, that's part of what makes me so mad. If I ever get word that I'm terminally ill, I'd like to kill myself way before I'm bed ridden, and the nurse is dropping off morphine at the house.

I agree with IAmMoose. You'd likely just make the position worse, not better. Shocked people rarely act in useful ways.

But I do hugely agree that the situation sucks.

Can someone PLEASE tell me why a country that practices capital punishment for the sake of petty revenge should have the right to deny a clean death to those in the greatest suffering?

Hello, people! You do know the rules. Inflammatory comments and comments that are obviously incitement to illegal acts are AGAINST THE RULES. This is your only warning. The thread has been surprisingly civil up until the last few posts or so. Let's go back to being civil, all right?

In God's favorite country? I doubt it! Be compassionate to the desire of someone who has been given a death sentance by disease - bah!
(hey that's not meant to be inflamitory - just sarcastic)

Being someone who has witnessed someone die - rather quickly of a terminal disease I wouldn't wish that on anyone; though at the same time I can understand the 'patient' wanting to hang around as long as possible.
(ok damnit now I'm gettin all teary eyed - cursed emotions)

Those Civil Rights marhcers never knew what was good for them, eh?

Personally I'd rather blow my brains out than take an overdose which is how most euthanasia is done. But that is beside the point.
ODing would be like falling asleep, without the whole waking up part. It may be scary to think of like that, but guess what? It makes the mortician's life easier, to say the very least, and it certainly would be easier on your family.

The civil rights marches were an entirely different thing. There's offending people and there's offending people, you know?

Look, I think anyone has the right to do themselves in whenever they want. If they are unable to do so themselves, they should have the right to ask someone else to help them. I don't think you and I disagree on this topic.

I think everyone should kill himself in public, since we are all terminally ill (in a sense).

Also, it would solve the population problem in India.
