Sorry if this post is in the wrong forum or has been asked before.
Does anyone know if literalist interpreters of the bible follow OT dietry laws? (Kosher food I presume). From the few fundies I have met I get the impression not. If the bible is the inerrant word of god then surely literalists should abide by them? Or is there a valid get out clause somewhere? |

Probably not, because most will tell you that Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament laws and so they no longer need to be followed. There are several passages in the New Testament that say Old Testament laws are no loner in effect because of Christ. For instnace, in the Gospel of Mark (I forget the chapter and verse) Christ declares all food clean. So dietary laws are no longer in effect. There's a lot of that in the New Testament.

In Acts 10: 13-15, Jesus tells Peter that dietary proscriptions are lifted. Of course He also said that "not one jot or tittle will be removed from the law before all is fulfilled".

Seventh-Day Adventists are literalists, but from their interpretations they conclude that Old Testament dietary laws are still applicable.
