What Jesus did/does depends on whatever you choose to read or write about him. Thus is the nature of great fiction.

Anyhoo, Jus Ahab, there's a handful of good stuff out there. Like everyone else said, steer away from the modern fictions. There's Indian scripture that's been twisted to allude to Jesus. That's interesting. Then there's the Buddhist traditions on Jesus. Them's good, too.

Here's a good site.

And here if you want the hoax stuff (not to say any of its true, just that the older stuff has better tradition).

Rather than start another thread, what's everybody think about the tradition that Jesus travelled the England as a lad? Or that Pontius Pilate was Scottish?

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I realise that the story is highly dubious and almost certainly nonsense. But the idea of a swashbuckling Jesus, hotfooting it in the middle of the night and pulling the wool over the eyes of countless millions, is very romantic to me.

I'd never heard this until now. I'd read somewhere that Joseph of Aramithea brought the grail to Britain but, obviously, this wasn't until after Jesus's death.

Yeah, same here. Ever since I read The Last Temptation of Christ I've liked to think about a pre-missionary and post-crucifixion Jesus. The gospel story of the crucifixion is so dubious in its story-telling it begs a sequel. Plus it ticks off the fundies. Hehehe...

Notovitch's St. Issa would be interesting if he wasn't so concerned with forwarding his own philosophy (he was clearly ignorant of Buddhist fundamentals) over story-telling.

All that said, although all the love thy neighbor crap can be found in some form in the Torah, so much of the imagery and metaphor seems SEEMS more dependant on Krishna and Buddha than Moses and David.

I did a search on the net and this is the best I could find. I know there's more info. I could've sworn Keat's or somebody wrote a poem about it.

Untrue.

...But, more pertinently: a topic for our Evolution/Creation forum, not here. I note that you have not posted in E/C yet.

Default William Blake - Jerusalem

and did those feet....

I see, no one around here knows the real english national anthem!!

I recommend a trip to Glastonbury!

Arthur C Clarke in a recent novel has an invention - a wormcam - that allow you to look anywhere or anywhen by using wormholes - and part of the plot was of course to follow the life of Jesus! The wormcams conclusively prove that Jesus and his uncle Joseph of Arimathea regularly travelled to Britain - they were tin traders and an advantage of the roman empire was free trade and safe trading routes - and Joseph later brought back the Holy Grail for safe keeping at Glastonbury.

The Celtic Church has always claimed it has superiority over Peter's lot because it was founded by Jesus!
The Holy Grail was later lost but found by Monty Python.....

Question Re: Biblical Inaccuracies?

You guys haven't even proved his work to be wrong, if you people don't want to believe in it than that is your choice - that doesn't make it wrong.

I disagree -- check out our Bliblical Errancy section
Thankyou for the link. I went to the site below and found very few contradictions that stood up to my first glance. There is no contradicton between Genesis 1 and Genesis 2. Genesis 1 is telling us the order in which God made everything, while Genesis 2 concentrates on how God made Humans, i.e. taking us from the dust.

I took the liberty to check out the following site:

Biblical Inaccuracies by Jim Merrit

There is very few contradictions here that I would classify as "valid". If that is the best that anyone can come up with, then, I don't know why people bother. I will look at the others in the morning as it is about 11:10 pm here.

"And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven." (Ex 17:14, KJV)

I remember Amalek and, by remembering Amalek, deny this assertion attributed to God. This passage is thoroughly disproved.

Default Indiana Jones

I dunno, have we got thread mistracking going on? It was originally about Jesus in India, then went on to Britain. It was turning into a quite interesting thread about various adventures around the planet, like Tintin and Indiana Jones.

Where else is Jesus alleged to have been? instead of wwjd - what would jesus do, why not wdjg - where did jesus go?

Someone observed that no Jew at that time would not have been married, so it is very likely there are children around. Has anyone found any anamolous DNA samples anywhere?
