Default Oh Those Silly Rapture Ready Folks!

Sometimes, when other forurms are slow, I'll drop by for a visit to our friends at Rapture Ready. Among their usual threads ("Do You Have The Feeling Jesus Is Coming SOON???") I found one discussing an old subject: The missing "In God We Trust" off some newly minted coins.

http://www.rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=5945

Some found it to be the work of the devil.

Others were much more level-headed about it and noted it was nothing more than an honest mistake.

One poster commented that the phrase being newly stamped on the side of the coins made it "more noticable" to which a reply was given:

The response was made,

:banghead: :rolling:

What is it with these folks? Everything's a damn persecution of them! This is almost like that "shopping cart behind my car" persecution some of you may recall from a while back.

How is filing down "In God We Trust" from a coin translated into the "persecution" of Christians?

Oh these RR folks really are out there!

Paranoia:

1.Psychiatry. a mental disorder characterized by systematized delusions and the projection of personal conflicts, which are ascribed to the supposed hostility of others, sometimes progressing to disturbances of consciousness and aggressive acts believed to be performed in self-defense or as a mission.

2.baseless or excessive suspicion of the motives of others.

I also occasionally go watch the traffic accidents over there.

Example of the intellectual level: There's a thread on the Seven Seals, who are the horsemen, have some of them been opened yet, blah blah blah. Anyway, one of their members posted this:

He or she posted this lament on page . . . two.

At the risk of derailing a joke with a serious discussion, here's a scary thing:

There's adults who won't read the Harry Potter books because the first one (aimed at typical 11 year old children) is just "too long" for them. They're genuinely shocked when they see an adult reading such a "big" book.

Sometimes it's hard to tell who's stupid and who's just an average example of why being human isn't such a great achievment.

Speaking of Rapture Ready, does anyone know what happened there a couple of months ago?

The entire Moderation team either left or was fired and the board was restarted with an entirely new set of mods and some different fora.

The old mods now run a different board (which is a carbon-copy of the old RR).

Given the fervent assurances that the split was amicable, and the strict refusal to give any details or allow people to ask about it, I suspect that the split was in fact anything but amicable.

Does anyone have any details?

i talked to one of them in their irc chat one night, apparently there was a dogma disagreement, also a disagreement on just how much freedom atheists/agnostics had to post there.

didn't really get any details into it, but from what she told me it was almost a battle between the hardcore fundies and the more liberal fundies...

the new board is called Prophecy Fellowship Forum, and yes, it's basically their old RR boards moved to a new domain and a new package. i keep it, and RR up alongside this board all day, it's fun to watch them argue between themselves about stuff in the apologetics forum.

A bunch of Christians split into two based on doctrinal and behavioral differences? IMPOSSIBLE!
