Default Re: (Dis-)respect for other beliefs.

Just filling a void, per request.

Even though he, she, and/or it has not stated his, her, and/or its beliefs, I think they're a crock of shit.

Mostly because of the assertion of not respecting that someone has beliefs. I, personally, respect the First Amendment, and I think that involves respecting someone's right to express beliefs, which entails respecting their right to have beliefs in the first place, which also entails respecting the fact that they have beliefs.

If, however, there is no respect for that, then there's no respect for the First Amendment, and I think that's a crock of shit.

Yes, but what Stacey was asking was what benefit would really come from respecting someone elses beliefs if they conflict with his?

Oh, yeah. I agree with that or at least concur with the question.

I just want to make Stacey Melissa feel welcome by starting a thread based on the question. I don't really care much about the rest.

If I understand Stacey Mellissa, it is not about (not) respecting that someone has beliefs, or (not) respecting someones right to express beliefs. It is about (not) respecting the beliefs.
