Let us say Jesus never performed any miracles. Does it seem logical to you that people would believe him as the Messiah and follow him?

Cmon atheists, you know darn well if someone was claiming to be the Messiah in the first century, and was "healing the sick" and the sick didn't get healed, everyone would laugh at him and not believe him! This did not happen atheists. People flocked to him and followed him so logic dictates he must have performed the miracles. Would you not laugh at soemone today who couldn't do a miracle? If they did do the miracle, would you not tell others about his wondrous powers? How did Jesus gain so many followers by faking his raising people from the dead? |

What makes you think that Jesus:

a.) existed at all b.) was believed to be a miracle worker while he was alive c.) had a large following d.) was believed by his direct followers to be the Messiah? There are a lot of unsupported premises in your question but I'm sure you're aware that bogus miracle workers and faith healers can and do attract large followings to this very day. People are stupid. |

Let us say aliens never landed at Roswell. Does it seem logical to you that people would believe aliens are visiting us and are abducting people? Some people give their lives to this. (Read Adbuction by Mack).

Cmon disbelievers, you know darn well if someone was claiming aliens landed a half century ago, and that they were now coming back and were still abducting people and implanting things in their bodies -- don't you think a little bit of logic and science would disprove it and they'd all admit what idiots they've been? .... I think you get the point... |

Did you know Jesus gave his disciples the power to heal as well? If Jesus didn't really give them this power, why woudl his disciples believe him? They would easily see that they aren't able to perform miracles and not believe another word of Jesus.

The topic of your thread is "Let us assume the Bible is fiction".

Ok, the bible is fiction. And if the bible is fiction, then the stories your are referring to never happened. They were made up by the author. No miracles, no healings, etc.. So what is your issue with ficticious characters performing ficticious miracles? |

We need to throw out hsitory books too because you can't read about stuff in a history book and assume that stuff happened just because you read it in a history book.

If Jesus performed so many miracles, how come after 3+ years of prosletizing, Jesus only had about 120 followers.

Acts 1:15 15At this time Peter stood up in the midst of the brethren (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty persons was there together), and said, Did you ever notice that Jesus didn't do any carpentry and the apostles didn't do any fishing. They traveled around the country living off the gullible who donated to the cause. I'm not impressed. Nick Hallandale |
