Default I'm off to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for Basic Training

On Wednesday morning, I'll head to Oklahoma to begin my BT for the US Army. I enlisted for 4 years of service, not including training

Yes, my dog tags will say Atheist.

What's your MOS? And read your smartbook.

My boyfriend (board member) finally got out of that shithole a couple weeks ago. He says that there is nothing to do there; check out his last couple threads.

Hmm, he's saying you'll be training in the unit he was in, and that you want second platoon, unless you're split off.

Tell drill Sgt Perkins amd Scales that Dictionary says 'hi' and drill Sgt Garza that e looks like Pee-Wee Herman. And do not piss off drill Sgt Clarke.

Send me your address, man; my guy and I would like to keep up with you.

Hey hey Captain Jack
Meet me down by the railroad track
With that rifle in my hand
I'm gonna be a shootin' man

Hey hey Captain Jack
Meet me down by the railroad track
With that bayonet in my hand
I'm gonna be a stabbin man..
A shootin man...

Hey hey Captain Jack
Meet me down by the railroad track
With that C-4 in my hand
I'm gonna be a blastin' man...

Hey hey Captain Jack
Meet me down by the railroad track
With a woman in my hand
I'm gonna be a lovin' man...
A shootin' man...
A stabbin man...
A blastin' man...
A lovin' man...

I love military cadence songs. They were the things that got me through the blisters on my feet from those rough ass combat boots they issue you in reception.

I assume you're gonna be an artillery guy or some type of intel. There's only two or three types of MOS's at Sill. What a fucking boring town. But as long as you aren't there forever you'll be fine.

Hoooo-AH! Hoo-Wah! Hoo-ah! Believe me, they're all different and they all mean different things under different circumstances.

And don't worry bro. You'll qualify with that M-16. They'll make you think it's the hardest thing in the world but you'll do it. You'll do great.
And in the med aspect of basic remember: Responsiveness, breathing, bleeding, shock, fracture, burn, head injury. Simple, basic, easy.

That's pretty much it. Best of luck.

Always remember, it's mostly a mind fuck.

Geezz.. and showing up just before a holiday? That blows - you'll probably be polishing brass until Monday.

Good luck, keep your head low and your powder dry.

Have a nice time, I'm sure it will be loads of fun. Oh yeah, make sure they really give you atheist dog tags if you want them, alot of times they'll try to give you something else ("no pref" or just blank, as mine were). I just bought my own instead.

Remember, they won't kill you, so don't take any of the training insults personal!

I don't know, volunteering for Chapel Guide and Fire Guard[?] got me out of a whole lot of bullshit.
Chapel guide marched the troops to church on Sunday, had to meet Saturday night, which was more or less a smoke fest, free donuts and drinks. Fire Guard took out the trash at night, was also a good chance to sneak a smoke
