Ahem! They idea that bible=Christianity is very much a protestant one, going back to Luther's sola scriptura ideas, isn't it? That explains the preoccupation in our culture with questions like "where does the bible say ...<fill in whatever>." So I would argue the opposite: BC&H very much finds its origins in protestantism. Catholics OTOH don't seem to care much: they can make tradition as required.

BTW, if the middle ages are OK, I take it that the discussions of Medieval mythology (the Saint culture, e.g.) are also within bounds? That then opens up the whole realm of folk religion, Celtic and Germanic influences and what have you... IOW, Christmas trees are a valid subject after all :devil1:.
