Thanks for this, Clive. With it, and the absolute unwillingness on your part to engage with the points at issue -- not to mention the almost perverse inability to comprehend what they are or what is actually relevant when arguing about them -- that your response above displays, you've definitively confirmed what I was increasingly beginning to supsect (but hoped -- alas, so foolishly-- was not true): namely, <inflammatory personal comments edited>

Sorry, but I won't expend any more effort on replying to what you have to say. <edit>

Just like dealings with your writings, it just isn't fair beating up on you relentlessly... It's just that it's so easy. Now, are you going to add something useful, for a change? Didn't think so...

Actually, Julian, I think giving some encouragement to one of the few genuinely knowledgeable posters here is very useful. Because it looks to me that Jeffrey is getting sick to the back teeth of the antics of many others here. I note that you picked up on me and him but had nothing to say about the attacks on Jeffrey's character by jakejonesiv and clivedurdle.

Best wishes

More persecution of the faithful! What attacks on character?

I mean, among other things, your insinuations that Jeffrey is insincere in his historical investigations due to to any religious commitments he may or may not have. Your constant attempts to derail this thread with irrelevant points, not to mention posting the blurb on books you have not and never will read, show you have no interest in the matter at hand.

The faithful expect to be persecuted, but scholars expect to be treated with respect. If this is the way you behave when someone who knows the subject at hand turns up, no wonder most experts can't be bothered with you.

Best wishes

Bede

Fascinating that something is seen as irrelevant and a derail that goes to the heart of the matter!

Right you are Clive. Jeffrey never answered the question. I am left with the impression that maybe Earl bested Jeffrey after all.

You never answered the question either. At whom is the Sinclair quote aimed?

My point here (again and again) is that your Conclusions here are Overstated. Specifically, that Doherty/MJ should not be taken seriously. Your brief but heartwarming reunion with Bede here reinforces that impression. Everytime I make this point you Ignore it in your response and respond to everything else.

So, in a seemingly neverending effort to obtain said addressing of said comment:

Doctor Gibson, in your Professional and Doctorial opinion, should Mr. Doherty's argument for MJ not be taken seriously by like minded Professionals such as yourself?

Don't bother responding to Joe. He doesn't know Hebrew, doesn't know Greek, and doesn't know history, and his opinions really don't matter too much.
