It's the way of the fundie. Deny, Deny, Deny... Damn...the world must have been a really exciting place "back then"! Giants, 600 year old men, hyper-evolution, hyper-orogenic processes, global floods, talking snakes, donkeys, etc...angles, demons...whew! Good times. I wonder how the Hebrews were able to communicate with each other, since every one of their words can be translated into six or seven other words, some of which contradict each other? Wait...don't tell me...goddidit! |

Speaking of the other thread, here's an unanswered question I posed to Magus therein:
Magus said: Hence why the OT revolves around ancient Egypt. Any eastern civilizations that are older than Egypt could have come before the flood - which is why there is no record of them existing after it. To which I replied: Establish when "it" was before making such a ridiculous statement. When was the flood, Magus? C'mon, Magus, inquiring minds want to know. When, in your opinion, did the Flood occur? |

Well, at least he's a warrior...
With respect to Magus - I must say that to stand up and face a hurricane like this does gain some respect in my eyes. If I saw the Mongol horde coming over the steppes I'm not so sure I would be defiantly standing my ground. Would I run to a safe haven with lots of folks like me?
Going out on your shield gets "warrior" points, especially when you have a stick and the enemy has machine guns. You know, we lose all the value of debate when we have no-one left standing. I have learned quite a bit in this thread. It's going to help me. I don't find Magus a threat to me personally. That would not be true of individuals elsewhere on this site that advocate seizing my property and placing me under dictatorship. Those vile slugs get me angry. But unless Magus wants more than for me to believe in the Ark, etc. - I'm not going to froth at the mouth. |

I know what you're saying...I understand it. But willful ignorance is not something I respect. Magus faces the "horde" not because he's brave, but because he really, truly, thinks we're all wrong, and he's right. It's more like, "ignorance induced courage". Look at the reality that Magus denies, and compare it to the fantasy land that his worldview requires, and then compare how far apart those two are. Fundies arguments are limited only by their imagination. |

It's a source of no small irritation to me that it's the Ark of the Covenant, not the Ark of Noah, that's made out of shittim wood. If it were so, people could start talking about floods and huge boats, and I could just say, "Buddy, you've got to be shittim me!!"

Our little C vs. E group has really, really died down hasn't it? Ever since frank left...I still can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing? Anyway...I'm hoping you're going to start a thread on the details of the Gulf of Mexico, seafloor, geological column. I've heard that you may know a thing or two about that.... |
