![]() ![]() I always hear entertainers and sports figures praising god. If someone loses a game or doesn't win an award, is it because of god's will, OR because the person wasn't good enough, etc.? When someone does win, they say "thank you lord". Do you believe that God has a hand in you winning money, a game or an award? If a believer is unsuccessful, who's fault is it? If, it's in god's hands, why prepare or practice? |

I think God works through people and helps them, but I think people credit too many things to His will. Then again I don't think you get in trouble with Him if you praise Him for everything good. |

One way you could look at it is thanking God for your fit body and for your powerful skills, which are, of course, God-given if you believe in that stuff. God can also have given the same gifts to both teams, and it's all a matter of which of them can win, but even the loser can be thankful for having been given a body and a skillset strong enough to get as far as they did.

The bible would indicate that he is competitive, though seeing how he is all-powerful, I really don't see the point.
One example is that he wants to be in first place, all the time (thou shalt have no other gods before me). Another telling clue is that whole gambling thing (And Job was the real loser there). If a god gives a rats ass about what people think so much that he demands worship (KNEEL before Zod!), then why wouldn't he feel it reasonable to help those who stroke his ego a little helping hand? |
