If I'm gonna watch hard-core BDSM, there'd better be some hot babes in skimpy leather outfits.

Seriously, I've no desire to watch the movie, and I really look at it as a sort of prostitution ... evangelization via gore. A fine old Xian tradition.

I generally like Mel's movies (the Max series were great fun and Braveheart and Payback are among my top 10 fave movies ever), but PoTC just holds no interest for me whatsoever.

The most expensive exploitation movie ever made - go watch I Spit on Your Grave or Last House On the Left - Much better.

I borrowed it from the local library a while back. I managed to watch it until the "scourging scene." It was so gratuitous in its violence that I quit watching the movie.

Forget the surgery. I'd rather just have experimental oral...

Have you watched "Jesus Christ Superstar"? The songs are quite catchy.

I will have to disagree with everybody who has posted so far. I like The Passion of the Christ. I thought it was good FICTION. Violence isn't so bad to me. I also like horror movies.

Just my opinion,

No, I wouldn't like to see The Passion of the Christ. Mel Gibson and his noxious fundamentalism make my flesh crawl.

Has anyone seen the episode of Family Guy where they steal PotC 2 from Mel Gibson to keep the world from having to watch it?

Plus, I love it when Peter's watching PotC and imagines what he would do if he were Jesus..

"Hey, hey, hey! Stop it!"

freakin' sweet...

I have not seen the movie, but I saw South Park's take on it, very funny.

I'm fairly certain that I'm not going to like the movie very much--though I'm trying to keep an open mind--but I'm very interested in watching from a kind of sociological point of view.

Are there any other infidels out there who might be interested in watching the movie sometime between now and the end of the coming weekend so that a small group of us could metaphorically "meet back here" to discuss it starting on, say, Monday?

If you're interested, let me know. If I don't get any affirmative responses I may go find something better to do with my time this weekend.
I saw the movie long time ago when it first came out. I liked the fact that it was in Aramaic. I thought that was cool and also that the use of the language was pretty realistic, well done.
The part when Jesus invents "the modern table" is
The acting was ok and the direction was ok. Photography was ok.
The torture is sadistic. It is not in line with the Turin cloth, which shows less of a beating...They should have called it "The torture of Jesus".
Did it work on your guilt?
