I guess "Christian Libertarian" means he believes in liberty for Christians, (or at least a certain kind of Christians) but not necessarily for anyone eles. After all, the whole gay marriage debate is also about religious liberty, but not in the way it's opponents think.
There are, after all, churches which do recognize gay marriage. (Here in Canada the Metropolitan Church of Toronto is the most famous example). To deny equal legal recognition to weddings performed by those churches is pretty clearly a case of religious discrimination, IMNSHO. It's odd how some people lose their enthusiasm for freedom when its extended to people outside their group. |
