Hi flesh!

Here's hoping you are doing okay.

I've been kinda down today, but feeling a bit better.

I heard on the news, a local pet store burned down, killing 51 animals. That and S.O.'s suicide has had me in the dumps.

The eye candy is second to none but completely pointless. If I want eye candy I'll be using Kubuntu with Metisse and showing people what cool desktop really is. They totally screwed up the networking. You try joining and AD with wireless and see how it goes. The media sharing is done nicely and the discovery for that is well implemented.
Anybody using a Mac who cares about photo management is probably using Graphic Convertor already anyway.

It's not just a small group of malcontents. It is real people, with growing numbers,
Very true it is not a limited number of people (IIDB'ers) posting concerns there.

I don't think this will be disappeared, but what do I know?

KatAutumn's OP is a good one, too.

I don't often ask questions in this forum, but I read it fairly frequently. And I read the public appeals for the same reason: in order to try and understand how the rules are interpreted and applied.

I've given up. There is no way to figure out how the rules are interpreted and applied by reverse-engineering from the questions people ask here, or by forward-engineering from posts and threads that are eventually locked or deleted, at least in the fora where I read frequently, and would participate more often if I felt I understood the rules.

So, for the most part, I don't participate in the fora that first brought me to CF.

Sometimes I wonder why I'm still here. Especially when many of the people whose friendships have kept me interested in CF have left, either voluntarily or otherwise.

If that's true, then I wonder why mayatesnomas doesn't appear to have received discipline for basically doing exactly that. He constantly reverts to Spanish in threads (mostly when he appears to be losing the debate), knowing that people don't understand him. When that happened in a thread where we'd been debating, I first asked him to speak English because I didn't understand him. When he continued to speak Spanish, I responded in kind and spoke to him in French, and we went back and forth for a while. That thread ended up getting closed after a while, but for something unrelated to the languages, if I remember correctly. But he continually will start speaking Spanish if things aren't going his way.

As you know in the not too recent past a whole variety of teams had appeals for infractions turned over because they mainly handled things via PM instead of warning to show "grace." We need the paper trail to be consistent and fair to all members, I think.
This is a prime example of the law of unintended consequences.

"Get the infraction overturned on a technicality" as a strategy has bitten us in the rear end more than once. There are several ways it discourages behavior by staff that we want to *en*courage.

Members perceive warnings as hostile. Remember that.

Can everyone else please report this? It's being turned into a "let's all agree that homosexuality is an abomination ^_^" thread. I'm not sure my report counts.

I can tell by your post that you still have hope. That's good.

Some of us have lost hope.
