Christian and Catholic are non mutually exclusive. Catholic is a subcategory of Christian. The heretics you refer to were clearly Christians as well, and the Church never denied this in the case of most sects. They were heretical Christians rather than orthodox Catholic Christians.

No.The nuns and fathers did not tell me much of anything of moral use.

Some of these groups you mention, the Quakers for instance, were not really in a position to stop Hitler. I'm not necessarily saying that the Catholic Church is fully to blame for Hitler's ascension to power and subsequent actions. The other European nations hold an equal responsibility. Might this have brought war sooner? Perhaps, but it might have then also kept it shorter, and the US out of it.

Mussolini? Are you kidding?
