Default Anthony Flew now believes in God

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=315976

Flew is now saying that he believes that an intelligent force created the universe and life. He goes on to say that his belief is closer to deism, and is a long way from Christianity or Islam. He does not believe in an afterlife.

Still, I'm sure that IDers will jump all over this.

This is at least the fourth thread on this topic.

Here's a link to one such thread, which links to two previous threads:

Sorry if this is old news, but the link I posted, which I got from The Drudge Report today, was from ABC News. I suspect that the story will now receive wide circulation in the mainstream media.

Er, who cares?

I mean... What effect does this have on any of us? What would we do differently? How will Mr. Flew's life be changed by this?

I guess I don't see why this should be "news". Bleh. Media annoying.

Apparently, he's still an atheist, he just sees it as possible for rational people to be theistic. No big surprises. Party over, everyone go home.

I agree that it's no big deal. After all, if there is no afterlife, what difference does it make if god exists or not?

Still, the IDers will take this as a validation, and will probably misquote Flew or take his remarks out of of context.

Best to be informed of the full story, I think.

I didn't see a date on that article. Was that posted today, or in 2001?

At the bottom of that article seebs linked to:

Date published: 08/31/2001

My comment in E/C applies equally here- you'd think he was sharp enough to realize that you can't solve a mystery by positing a bigger mystery...

Well, I dunno. I suppose we could ask to see whether his position has changed, but I have no obvious reason to believe it's not the same old rumors.
