Occupations are not necessarily accurate indicators of intelligence.

On the internet, the only way to judge someone's intelligence is by what they say and how they say it.

I just saw a study that said the average African-American enjoys a higher standard of living than the average Swede.

Why presume that African-Americans don't have their act together? Some don't, I suppose.

Wondered how long it would take CT to notice there was another thread on race.

I am also a graduate student, like him. Before I started my PhD I thought that everyone who went on to study further must be really, really intelligent, or how else would they get there?

It didn't take me long after starting to realise that just because you're good in one specific area doesn't give any indication of your overall intelligence. I've met some very clever people... and some complete imbeciles.
