Here's a picture of the Nazi belt buckle from this site. It shows the words ""Gott Mit Uns" (God With Us)".

Another picture...

Lot of stuff on this site...some good pictures of swastikas with crosses.

Just so the xtians won't think it's all atheist sites, here's a neutral site that has the buckle for sale.

And just in case they find a way around the sell.com site, here's a german military website that has them for sale.

Sorry guys...Hilter and the Nazis were not atheists.

It says, "In God We Trust"

Does that make all Americans Christian?

Of course, the Nazis were not an all atheist team. Just like, of course, the Nazis were not an all Christian team.

As usual, a xian will come up at some point with the Table Talk defense. Pre-emptively, here's one of the many threads where it was debunked: Was Hitler a Christian

Funny, I read that thread a few weeks ago. I do not think that there is conclusive evidence one way or the other as to what Hitler's religious preference actually was, and especially not in that thread.

Hitler believed in himself and the promotion of his cause to the point of being a religion, or certainly a strong ideology, in and of itself. Did he remove crosses from class rooms in Bavarian grade schools? Yes. Did he use an appeal to God in his public speeches? Yes. Would Hitler twist and contort himself to fit any mold that promoted his idea of blood and soil? Absolutely.

Who knows what he actually believed.

You mean apart from his own testimony both in public and private? No, we don't have any other evidence than his own word and that of his friends.

But then that's all we have about every person who claims to be a Christian. In the end, there's no litmus test for that. Either we take them at their word or we don't. Since we can't read people's minds, we can never know for sure what they truly believe.

Anyway, technically-speaking Hitler was a baptized and communed Catholic. He was never excommunicated.

Hitler was psychotic. The evidence we have seem to indicate that he truly believed he had been hand-picked by (the Christian) God to change the world.

Got a reliable reference for that? I personally own a Third Reich coin and there's a Chuch with a clearly visible cross on it.

I don't see anything that he did that couldn't be backed up by Bible verses.

Indeed. But chances are he believed in (some version of) Christianity. Similarly we can never know for sure if Stalin wasn't a secret Christian. But chances are he wasn't.

Ah, but therein lies the rub. I make no claim that Hitler was a xtian, I am only pointing out that Hitler was not an atheist. In fact, your quarter analogy proves my point. That slogan was put on the coins and money in the US to separate themselves from the communists, in fact it was created to be religious in nature. No atheist would put that on money. Therefore, the "God With Us" slogan on belt buckles of Nazis don't prove that they were xtian, but only that they were not atheists. The reference to xtians is because they are the ones that most make the claim that Hitler was an atheist to show that atheists are evil.

My opinion is that the evidence does seem to that he and the Nazis certainly weren't atheist, and that at the very least they'd be theist (religious). Based on Hitler's profession and background, I don't see why Hitler being a Christian isn't a logical and plausible conclusion.

Whatever the Nazis were, they were not atheists. They believed in spiritual entities, whether the ancient Norse gods or the Christian god or the Volksgeist. Communists are another matter, since explicit atheism was part of their ideology. Never mind that they replaced theism with a belief in something equally irrational, namely dialectical materialism, they definitely were atheists. And Popes were not willing to deal with Communists, although they did deal with Nazis.
