You can see how modern believers are unable to answer the question in the OP without getting themselves tripped up on some basic logical questions.

sotto voce is the master of the non-responsive response, usually a response that tries to put the burden of proof on someone else. I gather he thinks he is a deep theological thinker. Perhaps he thinks that his responses are like the questions a Zen master asks, meant to prompt enlightenment in his student.

I don't think this approach has worked, but I think it is sincere.
