As a woman I can see a number of issues with this.
For such a society to work you would have to either legitamise abortion completely or illegitamise it, if it were made totally illegal the situation would be untenable for women as they would be subject to a huge numbers of unwanted pregnancy (remember, no form of contraception is 100%). Men would NEVER know if their partners child was actually their child, or how many children they had. Women would not be able to get child support, so women who were not in some form of relationship or supported in some other way would suffer extreme financial detriment, as would their children. The rates of STDS would soar. Relationships would have to be free of any kind of sexual jelousy, I am in an "unusual" relationship, but even so I still suffer from the odd spat of it, it is only human. |

Premjan, do you honestly think that if we didn't have to worry about pregnancy that we would want to sleep with anyone that wanted us to? Do you think that's the only reason that a woman would decline to have sex with someone? I can tell you that the worry of pregnancy doesn't even surface for me unless I desire them in the first place.

LOLz, I say no for all kinds of reasons!
Hint guys, PERSONAL HYGEINE is one of the top five no-no reasons. Being generally not-attractive-to-me or plain stupid are also up there. Anyhow, mostly I ask, men b*gger around for ages and I can't be bothered with games. |

No, I didn't mean that that would make women want to sleep with everyone, but it would make them slightly less anxious about the issue.

I'd agree that it would make us slightly less anxious about pregnancy once we chose to have sex with them (assuming that you don't want to provide for and raise them yourself or have an abortion.) It would have absolutely no bearing on who I did and didn't want to have sex with, though.
I don't think that I've been conditioned to be picky as mysterious seems to think. I have an instant, visceral reaction to not want someone inside me that is not of my choosing, and what they want in that situation is irrelevant to me. |

I like this idea -- only if everybody were attractive.

"(Why) Do You Resist Sexual Requests?"
Very simple. I am not controlled merely by my base biological desires. Tempering one's sexual nature (and other base natures for that matter) does not have its origin in Puritanical religious dogma but in the evolution of humans becoming more than simple stimuli-response creatures. DC |

For women, a huge part of sexual liberation is being able to choose not to have sex whenever they want to not have it.
