I would like to try and tie that down further - is it clear for example that any particular book was first composed and written down by Greek speakers as Greek literature, which books might be translations from something written in another language, which might be interpretations of oral stories from one language to another?

There are probably other permutations.

Clear on what basis? I'm just an interested layman and have not examined any of the relevant evidence myself. Some of what I have read, though, was written by people who do have at least some familiarity with that evidence and the appropriate expertise for evaluating it. My comments reflected what they have had to say on the subject.

If your question is, Could those experts be mistaken? then the answer is yes, of course they could. If your question is, Is there any evidence that they are mistaken? then all I can say is, Not that I know of.

Yes i should have said peshitta primacy not Aramauic primacy. Some areas of Aramaic primacy have been subject to peer review, but not peshitta primacy.
