If Jesus paid the price our sins?
How can God send any person to Hell if Jesus paid the price for our sins on the cross already? DIVINE INSANITY God killed himself on the cross to save his own creation from his own wrath ! |

Ah, but there's the rub: You have to acknowledge and accept the sacrifice that Jesus made to get the benefits. Never mind that it was supposed to be an unselfish act...evidently Jesus gained a very tender ego after death. He needs his ego stroked constantly if you want to enter into his exclusive club. Even ignorance is not an excuse... :banghead:

And yet, does anyone have to have someone else accept their forgiveness to forgive someone? Does that mean we humble humans are more powerful than a god?

Science will make you powerful, and throw back the curtains of ignorance. Ridicule is the weapon god fears most, for he has no defense against the laughter of the infidel." Eldarion Lathria |

It seems rather counter-heroic to me, even from a literary standpoint. Many heroes in mythology end up doing favors and sacrificial deeds for people who either don't appreciate their sacrifice or are otherwise completely unaware of it. And this is even more true in the real world, where the vast majority of our own heroes are the ones who never get any credit for putting their asses on the line for the rest of us.
So what does this say about him as a role model? Should we seek to be more like Jesus in that regard? Should cops only serve and protect people who love and adore cops? Should firemen only help the families that believe all firemen are competent and trustworthy? Should doctors refuse to operate on people who doubt their abilities? Should our teachers and administrators stop teaching the children of parents who question their backgrounds? These people make sacrifices for the rest of us every day and most people never appreciate it even one bit. There's nothing wrong with making a selective sacrifice, only watching out for the people who are likely to thank you for it. But is that heroic? Is it even selfless? Not in the least. As for role models, I think Peter Parker would make a better Messiah than Jesus of Nazareth |
