From http://www.thewaytotruth.org/metaphy...tingstars.html
Quote:
He has made one sort of small stars missiles to drive off devils and kill them. Thus, firing these shooting stars to repulse devils may have three meanings:
From: http://www.thewaytotruth.org/science/clash.html
Quote:
The Perseid meteor shower observed in almost every year suggests that those meteors are shot for certain, important purposes. For they surprise the observers by showing great diversity.
"But we touched the heavens and found them filled with a mighty guard and shooting-stars; and we did sit in certain seats thereof to listen; but whoso of us listens now finds a shooting-star for him on guard."

16
And verily in the heaven we have set mansions of the stars, and We have beautified it for beholders.

17
And We have guarded it from every outcast devil,

18
Save him who stealeth the hearing, and them doth a clear flame pursue.

Surely, We have adorned the world’s heaven with lamps, and We have made them missiles for the devils. (al-Mulk, 67.5).

Am I correct in assuming that when the Quran talks about these missiles, it is referring to shooting stars? Seems like what all the muslim websites are talking about. Are these things that pursue the Jinn shootings stars?

If any thread deserves to be elsewhere, this one does.

This is a question I genuinely never expected to read.

Oh boy, I'd love to hear how they twist that explanation into being. Sometimes it's truly amazing. Did you ever hear the one about how Muhammad's supposed splitting of the moon found in the Hadiths was actually a prediction of the moon landing? Did you hear the one about Neil Armstrong hearing the Muslim call to prayer on the moon? He didn't know what it was at first, but when he heard it again after he came back to earth, he was immediately converted into a Muslim. Some really great stories they can invent. I wonder how they feel when they invent them?

But then again, it's not much worse than the grilled cheese sandwich with the Virgin Mary on it. But at least these people actually believe what they say, even though it's strange, but in the former case of Neil Armstrong, you have someone purposefully making up something that never happened, and the person who started that knows this. So how does this person justify in their minds, making the Armstrong story up? Maybe they feel that a lie is okay, as long as it was designed to lead one to Allah.

Our god's more powerful than their god. Let's see Allah trying to make the sun stand still when it isn't even moving.

Incidentally, haverbob, what's your take on the Joshua myth that he got god to make the sun stand still?

Do you feel the Qu'ran contains more absurdities than the bible?

Bah, obviously they are both right. The gravitational calamity caused by the suns halting split the moon in half. Luckily the moon fell back together when the angels pushed the sun back to speed and re-revved the earth to its proper RPM's. This is also the very moment where the cow was able to jump over the moon! See how nicely everything fits?
