Trying to infer the rules... From the first two posts:

Letters, not words
Cool, but not cold
Green, but not blue

---->

Better not worse.
Good not bad.
Queer and not straight.

It seems you change as few letters of the first set as possible to make a second set that still makes some kind of sense? Is that it? Which makes the "letters not words" name make some sense. But subsequent posts don't seem to follow this. So...

Bettor not horse
mood not sad
cheer not strife
