Default Anyone got a copy of Acharya S, "Suns of god"?

I'd like to know the source of a quotation from a "Paris magical papyrus" quoted on p.503 of "Suns of god".

Quote:
The salvific death and resurrection at Easter of the god, the initiation as remover of sin, and the notion of becoming "born again," are all ages-old Pagan motifs or mysteries rehashed in the later Christianity.

The all-important death-and-resurrection motif is exemplified in the "Parisian magical papyrus," a Pagan text ostensibly unaffected by Christianity:

"Lord, being born again I perish in that I am being exalted, and having been exalted I die; from a life-giving birth being born into death I was thus freed and go the way which Thou has founded, as Thou hast ordained and hast made the mystery."
The quote is given a reference '18' but the preview doesn't show the text of this.

Can anyone say what the reference is?

This link links the magical papyrus phrase here, although not very usefully.

Thanks,

Roger Pearse

The amazon preview seems to point to Halliday, Pagan Background of Early Christianity (or via: amazon.co.uk) p. 244, also on google books

My Amazon preview does not show p 244, but it is available on google, but there is no source listed. The book is based on a series of lectures from about 1925.

Hi Roger

It is from the so-called mithras-liturgy from the Paris Great Magical Papyrus
Quote:
O Lord, while being born again, I am passing away; while growing and having grown, I am dying; while being born from a life-generating birth, I am passing on, released to death-- as you have founded, as you have decreed, and have established the mystery

Andrew has provided the underlying textual reference. However the underlying description relates to the Vernal equinox. One does not need a book to understand what this means. People were genuinely celebrating the arrival of the equinox, not a dead jewish messiah. The celebration of the equinox remained intact until the Council of Nicaea. At that time this Panhellenic festival became oversighted by delegated state Christians. Acharya S. has her facts straight on all this.

I'm not so sure Roger believes any of this. He seems to have a very hard time believing anything that didn't happen because of Jesus.

mountainman's current obsession seems to be the vernal equinox. Acharya S mentions this in connection with Easter because it mentions Resurrection, but I see no indication in the papyrus that it is related to a vernal equinox.
