Default It's all about God's will.

I read in papers a few days ago about a 10-year old girl brutally raped and murdered while walking to school in the morning. Our country has been shaken by rape-and-murder cases these days. What disturbed me was the reaction of the victim's parents, especially since they're theists.

I remembered the murder of an American-based Malaysian woman and currently the accused murderer is on trial. Her father, a Christian, was understandably devastated. What followed was his remark that such a horrible tragedy was God's will, and nothing he can do about it.

Similarly the mother of a murdered 10-year old I mentioned above said the act was God's will and she accepted it, although reluctantly. I cringe in disgust the mentality of theists in this kind of event. Even if I am a theist, the thought that a woman must go though brutal end of her fragile life by torture, rape and murder is unthinkable for a supposedly benevolent God to challenge his followers.

The insanity of theists baffles me to no end. If lets say I have children who was horribly murdered, and some nut dares to come to me and say it's God's will, he/she has to get the bitchslap of their lives!!!

Hey--

People do what they need to do to get through difficult and very ununderstandable parts of their lives.

I do not judge them. Nor should you.

If something terrible happened to you or your family I would not denigrate how you reacted to it.

Have the same compassion for others.

Of course the original poster has compassion, that why this thread was started. The victims of violence and their families are quite understandably, shocked, angered, and confused, but they are further making themselves even deeper victims by resulting to this 'acceptance' as a way of 'dealing' with such outright hatefulness. As they denigrate themselves, they also push foward to 'everyone else' a more accepting of feeling powerless to the sick whims of others, being 'justified' by the 'all mightly loving' 'god'. Like crime has god's 'divine' 'stamp of approval'.

If god were real why would anyone be surprised? To stop this sort of conduct in his created people he committed genocide. Wiped out the bunch of them except for an old drunk and his family. And if you believe some of the xians when the old drunk is sleeping it off in tent naked as a jay bird, his own son comes along and butt f*cks him. I guess these where the most moral people he could find to save mankind from itself.

I would like to know very much so, where you had seen or heard anything like this from the story of Noah? On the scale and as taken literal, the OT is often completely ridiculous, and many times, on a more so advantage than your 'example'.

I've heard it directly from two different fundies. Apparently the idea is when they wrote about seeing someone naked they meant the two were having sex. Because Noah was supposed to be passed out from drinking they think he was raped by his son.

Just that Noah was getting drunk right after he saved humanity from itself has always seemed odd to me. When you add in the butt f*cking it becomes a real hoot. I have a hard time understanding why anyone would profess to believe any of this stuff.
