so y'all....can you please say a prayer for my dad and stepmom? i just found out late last night that my dad is in the hospital. seems he had strep throat and kept letting it go thinking it would run it's course (thinking it wa sjust a bad sore throat).
his throat has compeltely swelled shut. he cna't swallow. they have him on IV's and morphine and antibiotics and basically i'm told it's a wait and see game of when the steroids will reduce the swelling.
they say it's not uncommon although rare and usually happens in children who tend to bounce back rather quickly; adults not so quick.
i did get to call him last night and he can talk for short spells but he's hard to understand. he's frustrated bc he's a horrible patient, hates dr. let alone hospitals. he thought going to the emergency room they'd just give him some meds but they admitted him instead.
poor stepmom is just beside herslef. between having to care for her sick brother and stretching herself thin there she's gotten sick herself and now this and she just broke down on the phone with me.
they're supposed to do another cat scan on his throat later today and compare pictures with when he was admitted to see if the swelling is going down and they'll go from there as to what's next.

this is a man who is never sick. or ya know just basic things and never been to the point where a hospital is needed so he's adjusting rather roughly.

Not that I'm not an idealist myself, but talk is cheap.

Significant, but not major in extra-large bold letters.

Personally I'm glad I was circumsized. I'm not planning to have any kids so whether to have it done to my sons is a decision I won't have to wrestle with.

Wow, I think you have just stumbled upon one of the atheist arguments Taz. Why don't Christians hear from God like in the early church times? Why are there not obvious miracles like in the early church times? Why does God not heal amputees?

I'm going through something similar with my dad. he has developed a bronchitis from what looked like a mere cold, and now has trouble breathing as his lungs are clogged up with mucus.

He's as bad a pateitn as your dad .... *sigh* parents!

Evolving Robot Language

I love the sort of implications these kinds of experiments have on morality debates.
