Apologetics in Fundamentalism is different than apologetics in New Evangelicalism. We believe in the Doctrine of Sufficiency which states that the Word of God alone is good enough. Sadly many New Evangelical deny this doctrine, as their apologetics and ministries reveal this.

I had a debate with a new evangelical a few weeks back who claimed that my soul winning technique (pass out tracts, engage the sinner in conversation to tell him/her about their hell bound condition) is not the best method. I told him that he denied the doctrine of Sufficiency, because he thinks that the Bible alone is not powerful and effective.

The Bible alone is enough to convict others of their wickedness and to repent and believe.

Isa 55:11--The Word shall not return unto me Void
Jer 23:29--Thy word is like a fire and like a hammer that breaks the rocks in pieces
Eph 6:17-The word is the Sword of the Spirit
Her 4:12-The word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword
2 Tim 3:16-17-All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is useful for doctrine, reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness.

The Word of God also provides great benefits

Psa 19:7-8
Eph 5:26
James 1:25
1 Pet 1:23
1 Pet 2:2

All scripture quoted from the King James Version.

As a sceptic I reject all your unsubstantiated statements about gods, heaven and hell. You are the one who believes in old mythology, not us. Don't you understand that?

Yeah, you sure picked an awesome god to love and worship, didn't you? What does this choice tell us about you?

The fact that far from everyone believes that same thing shows us that this is not true. The word of your particular god is not enough, especially when it contradicts observed reality.

No, it's not enough.

Does it matter what version? They are all god's perfect word, you know.

Tell you what, Bill: When everyone who accepts that doctrine of sufficiency, that the Bible alone is good enough, can all agree on what the Bible says and means, let me know, and I'll consider taking you seriously.

In the mean time, would you please explain to me why Christians often can't agree with each other about what the Bible means?

Oh, gee, we were wrong I guess. The bible is enough to "convince others of their wickedness" -- it says so right there in the bible!

I didn't realize the BIBLE ITSELF made this claim! Boy, that sure settles it then.

I suppose now I can get down to the business of being convicted of my wickedness.

Thanks, Bill, for showing us The Light™ ... you rock, buddy :notworthy:

That is obviously not your method. Consider the following:

Plenty of other evidence in support of a flood has been discovered all over the world, and all the scientific evidences point to that of a great flood many years ago.
That obviously is not the Bible, it is science, rather pseudoscience.

Message to Bill Joey. Why should anyone trust a religious book that contains provable errors? Consider the following Bible contradictions and errors:

2 Chronicles 22:2 says "Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign..."

Item 2

2 Samuel 6:23 says "Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death"

2 Samuel 21:8 says "But the king took...the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul"

Item 3

2 Samuel 8:3-4 says "David smote also Hadadezer...and took from him...seven hundred horsemen..."

1 Chronicles 18:3-4 says "David smote Hadarezer...and took from him...seven thousand horsemen..."

Item 4

1 Kings 4:26 says "And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots..."

2 Chronicles 9:25 says "And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots..."

Item 5

2 Kings 25:8 says "And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month...Nebuzaradan...came...unto Jerusalem"

Jeremiah 52:12 says "...in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month...came Nebuzaradan...into Jerusalem"

Item 6

1 Samuel 31:4-6 says "...Saul took a sword and fell upon it. And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead and...died with him. So Saul died..."

2 Samuel 21:12 says "...the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa."

Item 7

James 1:13 says "..for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man."

Gen 22:1 says "And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham..."

Item 8

Gen 6:20 says "Of fowls after their kind and of cattle [etc.]...two of every sort shall come unto thee..."

Gen 7:2,3 says "Of every clean beast thou shall take to thee by sevens...Of fowls also of the air by sevens..."

Item 9

Luke23:46: "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."

John 19:30 "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."

Item 10

Gen 32:30 states "...for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved."

John 1:18 states, "No man hath seen God at any time..."

Item 11

Lev 11:6: "And the hare, because he cheweth the cud..."

Hare do not chew the cud.

Item 12

Deut 14:7: " "...as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof."

For the hare this is wrong on both counts: Hare don’t chew the cud and they do divide the "hoof."

Item 13

Jonah 1:17 says, "...Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights"

Matt 12:40 says "...Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly..."

whales and fish are not related
I added the item numbers myself, and I did not quote all of the contradictions and errors.
