How about a hint so we can decide ahead of time if we want to look at it.

I wonder why they don't show this stuff when they're trying to convert people.

This clip is from a very good documentary on Islam put out by the CBC called "In the Name of God: Scenes from the Extreme". I saw it on either IFC or the Sundance Channel.

What country was that in?
And why was the file named 'Pain for Jesus'?

I can certainly see how someone worked up into a frenzy would do somehting like that. Notice the guy on the stretcher still bashing himself as he's carried away. Does anyone know if it would result in the same endorphin rush that cutters get?

In The Name of God takes us inside extreme fundamentalist communities in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine, communities where western secular men and women rarely set foot. The documentary includes:
Graphic scenes from the festival of "Ashura", in which some believers, including young boys, commemorate the sacrifice of the "martyr" Imam Hussein by participating in a "blood-letting" process...

Apparently, whoever named the file a) didn't see the documentary, b) didn't notice all the Arabic writing and c) didn't recognize that the people were speaking Arabic.

In other words, the same reason every other Bob Rivers song on Napster was credited to Weird Al Yankovic .

THOUGHTfully Yours,
Clark
