HJ is a False Dichotomy.

How can you have an "historical" Jesus and no history of him?

By employing logical fallacies.
In any other words, by presenting fiction as historical truth.
Presenting fiction as truth is a misrepresentation, but it's not a logical fallacy.

Not you peddling your absurd opinions, that's for sure.

You have presented a perfect example of FALSE DICHOTOMY.

To accept instances of pious forgery by an historian as history is a logical fallacy. See Momigliano. The operative word is DENOUNCE.

In ancient history it is a logical fallacy to confuse opinion (belief) and evidence. The same obviously may not apply in the apologetic field of Biblical History. The two separate fields seem to operate under a different version of Logos.

It's not, though, if you accept the attendant premises (not as fact, but simply as logical premises). Humans can't walk on water. That is both fact and premise. However, if we posit that a human can be imbued with an all-powerful spirit, then it is not illogical that the imbued human can do things that he cannot do by himself. Just because a premise is physically impossible doesn't mean it's illogical.

You have presented another FALSE DICHOTOMY like J-D.

It is illogical to assert that a human being can walk on water because it is "posited" a human can be imbued with an all powerful spirit.

Logically, it is the Specific Gravity that must be reduced or the size of the feet increased for human beings to walk on the sea.

Sounds like the HJers should be looking for an HJ with big feet - Jesus Big Foot.

First of all, kudos to aa5874, for introducing a remarkably interesting thread.

THANK YOU.

I thought excellent points were made by all parties to the argument.

Secondly: I will attempt to quarrel with a couple of tiny details.

Where do we learn that "Mark's" Gospel represents his beliefs, as opposed to a "supposed" recounting of the life of JC?
In other words, how do you claim to know what Mark believed?

This is utter nonsense. How can some type of activity be both logical and impossible, concurrently? Can you express this concept mathematically? Can you think of any branch of mathematics where this notion is accepted as valid? Feel free to employ zero or infinity, as you wish...

By definition, an activity acknowledged to be impossible, lacks any attribute associated with logic....

Can you amputate the lower extremities of a man born without lower extremities?

Yes it is.

"the claim" CLAIM???

Don't be childish. There is no such claim. The claim isn't logical at all, it possess no attribute of logic, because "the Holy Ghost" does not exist.

Imaginary constructs do not possess logical attributes. Next you will be telling me that the man above, born without legs, can walk on water.

hmmm. Could such activity be illogical? Is it beyond the limit of the definition of logic? What about the bread wafers which the Catholics claim is the body of JC?
Are you certain that such an announcement by the priest on Sunday is not ALSO illogical, rather than simply a misrepresentation?

Not every falsehood is a false dichotomy. 'False dichotomy' is a more specific concept, and obviously one which you do not fully grasp.

Well, Constantine had some BIG FEET in the 4th century and he could KICK so hard that the WHOLE Roman Empire was forced to believe FALLACIES about the history of the Church.
