Yahweh Sabaoth, "the warrior with the strong right arm", "the Lord of Hosts", etc., is an image of God as a leader of men. Now, Christians, etc. have no problem dismissing other peoples' Gods as "probably early rulers, priests, etc." - Osiris, for instance, was "probably an early Egyptian local ruler" - so, maybe, Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, was once a human being?
I wonder if he'll be dug up one day? Just imagine it - a group of people being shown round a museum: "Now here we have Yahweh - who was once worshipped as the creator of the Universe ...." A sound of laughter. |
