If this is a repeat, I apologize.
Came across new book. author Edward J. Larson... title *EVOLUTION* publisher Modern Library... date 2004 a nice handful, portable; compact history of (the idea/s, events of )the development of "evolution". Persons who haven't much knowledge of the matter might start here and begin filling-up their empty spaces. I am scarcely into the book yet; my impression is that you need to know alot more than Larson understandably can say here; but his book's a start. Try it; you may find it useful to you. |

Th big question, abe, is 'which side is he on?'.
I've seen many a book which claims to be an impartial open-minded view of science or some other aspect of life, and gradually reveals itself to the wary as a cleverly-disguised creationist rant. |

Could read it and decide, FMF. My impression (from the pages I've read of it so far) is that it's rather a straightforrard effort to lay out the facts of the history of the idea. He's dedicated it to Ernst Mayr surely w/ Mayr's permission; who's offered a short praise of it.
If you're afraid of being brainwashed, [WHAT? a bright grown-up like you?] you ought to avoid reading at all? so as not to be contaminated by suspect inputs. I considered the publisher to be at least reputable... |
