My vote goes to that moment in The Abyss when Bud and Lindsey figure out what they have to do to get off the flooding sub.

Previously mentioned.. Spock's Death in Star Trek III

also.. Data's Demise in Nemesis

hmm..

The deaths of Obi-wan Kenobi and Yoda both jerk a tear for me..

the scene where Han Solo says goodbye to Chewie and Leia prior to being frozen in carbonite...

Mission to Mars: when Tim Robbins' character dies..

that's all I can think of at the moment.

I didn't much care for the movie, but that scene - when she realizes she will have to drown, was effective.

The blonde gal - can't remember her name - getting speared and carried off into the dark at the end of Pitch Black was kinda sad.

And although this cheats a bit, the robot flying into the missle while saying "Superman" and closing his eyes in The Iron Giant makes me chokey.

yeah... (sniff!)

If we're going to stray into sci-fi cartoon/anime films (or OAVs) then I'd have to mention the death of Yugo in Battle Angel

More sadness from Blade Runner:

When Rachael realizes she is not human.

The death of Spock in Star Trek was certainly sad, but I was too young to really care when I first saw it.

My vote goes to Amageddon, when Bruce Willis stays behind to detonate the asteroid, and is addressing his daughter before he dies.

A close second would be when the first lady dies in ID4.

I hate tear jerker movies.

I'm usually annoyed by too much pathos like in The Wrath of Khan.
I think the scene in the new Battlestar Galactica where the FTL-capable ships depart, having to leave the others behind, the countdown to the background of the desperate radio calls pleading for help, was very moving.
