Default Undercurrent's Vacation Plans

So I'm figuring that in about a month, I'll wake up some morning, think "I could go into work today, but I would be insane by the end of the day," and then call in sick, put a bag in my trunk, and take off on a road trip somewhere.

So where's a good place to take a road trip to? It has to be at most a day's drive from Santa Fe, NM. My present ideas include:
  • Vegas (pretty much at the limit of driving range)
  • Grand Canyon
  • Some 14er in Colorado that I haven't climbed yet.

Any other good ideas?

I vote for the non-vegas choices. Outdoor stuff = cool.

How about the San Juan mountains in southwest Colorado? Apparently they are pretty cool.

But do the San Juan mountains have showgirls? I didn't think so.

Actually, I've been mountain-free for two years now. I'm probably overdue. Where are the San Juan mointains in relation to Handies' peak? Is it the same rough area?
