Anyone else would wonder why the lord of lords made such a faint impression on the rest of the world. Most reasonable scholars seem to assume that Jesus was a marginal, small town rabbi in an obscure area of the Roman Empire.
Whoa! All Kee is speaking of here is Jesus as an exorcist -- which even Jewish sources testify to. Where does he say anything about Jesus being lord of lords. Nice of you to make your point by putting words in Kee's mouth.

In any case, that Jesus had "unusal powers" -- i.e., was a healer -- is something that Jewish and atheists scholars have also said.

Jeffrey
That can't be - exorcists and faith healers were a dime a dozen in the Roman Empire. Kee thinks that Jesus had "unusual powers."

And what Jewish sources?

OH NOES!! THIS ENTIRE THREAD MISSED THE WHOLE POINT SCRATCH EVERYTHING.

Those links were written by R.G. Price, who posts here as Malachi151.

R.G.Price is NOT Robert M. Price.

Sorry.

wait wait, I am also wondering about R.M. Price.

I didnt look carefully. I have come accross Robert M Price's work (the bible geek) and I was wondering about him as well. But now that we are on the subject, how is Malachi15's scholarship? LOL

R. G. Price is not even a fringe scholar. He's not even a scholar at all. He has no scholarly background. For crying out loud a mere year ago (if even that long ago) he finally found out that Psalm 22 was quoted in the gospels!

I have located the previous thread on this book here.

It was my feeling then (and now) that if the authors start out by arguing for the possibility of miracles, that their entire theory is somewhat discredited.

Why should this book be taken seriously? And what value is a scholarly consensus among NT scholars if it includes people with this sort of methodological weirdness?

It seems to me that they're different books.

There are two books by the same authors.

Yes. When Jeffrey pointed out The Jesus Legend, you pointed out a thread "on this book", which actually was on a different book.

Check out the thread - I think it mentions both and links to the first chapter of the one under discussion.
