I'm reading Rena Pederson's "The Lost Apostle" and am curious about the opinions from the people on this forum. In this quote from Roman's 16:7 (ESV)

Is Junia a man or a woman?
Does this verse indicate Junia was an actual apostle, or simply well known among them?

Junia is almost certainly a woman. There is no contemporary evidence for the male name Junias in Greek. On the other hand, the female name Junia is attested in Greek.

The verse is ambiguous about whether Andronicus and Junia are counted among the apostles or merely well known to them. Please also note that Paul's usage of the term "apostle" is somewhat broader than other people's.
