is it true that words for torment and punishment in the bible have a purifying or healing connotation?

Origen tried to claim that eternal damnation was not eternal, and was condemned as a heretic for his troubles. One of the few pleasant Christian theologians of that miserable age.

But was Origen Eusebius? After all is said and done,
all that we know about Origen is what Eusebius
tells us.
