If you watch his videos on the book of revelation it's hard to deny that chapter 6 is describing the 'apocalypse' that occurred a few years after the romans destroyed the temple: a solar eclipse that became a war in the heavens, where the planets visible around the sun were the horsemen and the seals were constellations. The match is just too uncanny to dismiss out of hand.
Once you understand that, it makes quite a bit of sense that the coming of jesus is essentially the return of the light after this war in the heavens (which was of course being interpreted in the context of the horrific events of the previous few years). And Matthew and John certainly support this interpretation nicely. In my mind the whole thing has enormous explanatory power in understanding the development of early christian mythology. gary |
