Now, let’s look at our friend, the African elephant, with a weight of 4-7000 kg, and a volume of 48 square meters. (Lengths 7-8.8m, width 1.5m, height 4m), x 7, that’s 336 square meters.

Now, the African elephant consumes 4 to 6% of its weight daily (75-150kg), over 150 days that’s 15,000 kg of food per elephant. For 7 of them that’s 105,000 kg. Or 115.5 tons, now from my child hood I know a half ton hay bail is roughly 1.7x1.5x1.1 meters, or 2.805 cubic meters. There fore 115.5 tons would be equal to roughly 323.97 cubic meters. For a total of 650 square meters of space assuming absolutely no breathing/wiggle room.
