Then check out how much food 14 elephants will need for a year... 7 pairs of the clean animals and since elephants don't have a split hoof and all that jazz I would expect them to be clean.

maybe Noah cryogenically froze them so they didnt need to eat. like the mammoths in siberia, that froze while they were standing up just before the flood. or some crap like that

i actually did that once about 6 months ago when i started taking part in such discussions (so i probably screwed up a good deal, but meh)
wasn't 7 pairs though, just 7 african elephants.

Then “the floodgates of the heavens were opened” (Genesis 7:11, 16). An incessant torrential downpour followed for “forty days and forty nights”; “the waters continued overwhelming the earth” for 150 days (Genesis 7:4, 12, 24). Five months after the downpour began, the ark “came to rest on the mountains of Ararat” (Genesis 8:4). It was nearly two and a half months later before “the tops of the mountains appeared” (Genesis 8:5), another three months before Noah removed the ark’s covering to see that the earth had practically drained (Genesis 8:13), and nearly two months later when the door was opened and the survivors set foot on dry ground once again (Genesis 8:14-18).

Being extremely generous on my part lets only account for the 5 month period at sea.

Now, let’s look at our friend, the African elephant, with a weight of 4-7000 kg, and a volume of 48 square meters. (Lengths 7-8.8m, width 1.5m, height 4m), x 7, that’s 336 square meters.

Now, the African elephant consumes 4 to 6% of its weight daily (75-150kg), over 150 days that’s 15,000 kg of food per elephant. For 7 of them that’s 105,000 kg. Or 115.5 tons, now from my child hood I know a half ton hay bail is roughly 1.7x1.5x1.1 meters, or 2.805 cubic meters. There fore 115.5 tons would be equal to roughly 323.97 cubic meters. For a total of 650 square meters of space assuming absolutely no breathing/wiggle room.

Using some sort of boiler he might have used the heat from the boiling oceans to power some sort of refridgeration unit... You may be on to something there.

Her pinkness saves you are right, it was seven. Nice calculations, maybe that's where the plants came from after, there would be an awful lot of elephant poo to shovel off the ark after god opened the only door.

I think we solved it. He took seven pairs of every clean animal, but after a couple of weeks, all the animals were covered in their own shit. So then they weren't clean anymore, and six of the seven pairs could be fed to the remaining carnivores!

Three issues - well a lot more, but these will do:

"clean" and "unclean" - since the laws relating to this were given to Moses hundreds of years after the Ark, how did Noah know which was which.

Is it possible for a single breeding pair of any "kind" to create a population? One accident, and there goes the Unicorn.

At the speed that the Sloth moves, the two of them would have had to leave South America and start heading towards the Ark before the world was even created. I am aware of instinct, but this is a bit over the top. Possibly ditto for Koalas who sleep about 18 hours per day (I couldn't be bothered doing the calculations.

And, yes I am aware of YEC rationalisation for all of these points.

What about waste disposal? The bible says that after everyone had entered, "the Lord shut him in" (Genesis 7:16). Were they then able to open doors, sluices or the single window to get rid of all the feces and urine the animals produced?

How was the ark illuminated? (A creationist on the board once answered "fireflies")
lol - both fireflies illuminated the whole ark. classic.

Yes the simple answer is GOD DID IT!! It is so logically flawed that ANYONE of more than a simpleton mind KNOWS there was no world wide flood!!
